About Brashies
We started Brashies because we couldn't find what we needed.
Claire had two kids who loved the beach and a problem every beach parent knows — the moment you look away, they're gone. Muted swimwear in a crowd of muted swimwear makes that worse. She wanted bright. Properly, fluorescently bright. The kind of colour that cuts through a hundred people on a summer beach and says there they are.
Finding it wasn't easy. And when she did find something bright enough, the quality usually let it down — fading after a season, poor fit, fabric that didn't hold up to real use.
So she convinced her sister-in-law Vanessa to help her do something about it.
Vanessa is a mother of three and has a gift for the practical. Quality, usability, fit, function — nothing gets past her. Together they built Brashies around four fluorescent colours (yellow, pink, green and orange) and one non-negotiable: every piece had to be genuinely worth buying.
What we make
Every Brashies piece is rated UPF50+, made from chlorine and saltwater resistant fabric, and designed to last more than one season. The range covers long sleeve rashies, short sleeve rashies, one piece swimsuits, board shorts, hats and beach accessories — all in our four signature colours, for kids aged 2 to 14.
Why bright
Visibility at the beach is a real thing. Fluorescent colours reflect light rather than absorbing it, which makes them genuinely easier to spot in the water and in crowds compared to standard colours. That's not a marketing line — it's why the brand exists.
